Kenyan Luke Kibet set a course record as he won a Singapore marathon dominated by Kenyan runners. World champion Kibet finished in 2 hours 13 minutes and one second, more than a minute faster than the previous record set by last year's winner. And it was a clean sweep for Kenya as Johnstone Chepkwony and Amos Matui finished second and third. In total about 50,000 people took part in the event, most of whom were fun runners. But the top athletes and the Kenyans in particular soon started to dominate. And it was Edith Masai, another Kenyan, who finished top in the women's race. The Singapore Marathon forms part of the Greatest Race On Earth series that also includes marathons in Nairobi, Hong Kong and Mumbai.

Kibet said afterwards he was pleased with his win.
